Most of people in Japan believe that “MIZU-BASHO” is flowers in summer but for people in north part of Japan the flowers rising from the melting snow are a sign of spring. There are several places where you will enjoy and admire “MIZU-BASHO” in Niigata-pref.

In Ojiya city, “OOKUZURE MIZU-BASHO GUNSEICHI” is one of such places. The height above sea level is about 250m and so the bloom comes early in April or the middle.

After enjoying the beauty of the nature, why don’t you visit the farm restaurant “YAMAMURASAKI” at about 4km drive down from “OOKUZURE MIZU-BASHO GUNSEICHI” to the IWASAWA station.

Scents of edible wild plants, which also the sign of spring, welcome to your appetite and the bittersweet taste of the yummy country dishes will wake up your body in preparation for the next season.

“OOKUZURE MIZU-BASHO GUNNSEICHI” is designated as one of natural properties by Ojiya city.
