TAKUSANN JINJYA NO OOSUGI

A small shrine is located in the vicinity of the mountaintop of YAMAMOTO YAMA in Ojiya. The small shrine is called TAKUSAN JINJYA worshiping TAMAYURIHIME, an incarnation of a snake or a god of water. As the principal image shows it, the land is wet and damp.

The shrine is surrounded by some Japanese cedar trees and one of them is huge and tall. The girth of the tree trunk is about 8.4 m and its height is 21 m. Nothing around the shrine and the cedar trees so you can find them easily from the distance.

Near “TAKUSAN JINJYA NO OOSUGI” there is a field of rape blossoms in spring or sunflowers in summer. Getting down to the field, you will find the beautiful scenery of Shinanogawa river and mountains from TAKUSAN pocket park. A festival is going to be held tomorrow, 25th of May!

“TAKUSAN JINJYA NO OOSUGI”is designated as a natural monument by Ojiya city.
