HYAKU TSUKA
Along a road of “SANBUSYOU” in Ojiya city, there are more than a hundred of mounds together with cherry trees. It is called “HYAKU TSUKA”.
Most of the mounds are circular shape, its diametre is about 4m and the height is about 1.5 m. Stone Buddhist images are on some mounds. Comparative new headstones can be seen among them. The history of this historic spot is unsure and many legends are passed down.
From the road of “HYAKU TSUKA”, you can see calm rural landscape and farmers houses. Cherry blossoms are going to bloom soon. Some of the farmers cultivate cauliflower, which is one of noted products in Ojiya. Harvest time is from September to October.
“HYAKU TSUKA” is designated as one of historical cultural properties by Ojiya city.
